Overcoming The Controlling EGO - Detoxing Your Toxic Beliefs

Interestingly - We make every effort under the sun to avoid changing ourselves (it is either avoidance or just plain arrogance of belief). The fortunate ones in life find that, in order to grow in life, we have to be willing to let go and evolve beyond our set, limiting beliefs.

"The recipe for perpetual ignorance is: Be satisfied with your opinions and content with your knowledge." - Elbert Hubbard

There are many beliefs in life that we desperately cling to. Our EGO tells us that our beliefs define who we are and that, to let them go is to die a little bit inside. Our EGO has convinced us that, if we sacrifice our beliefs, we are throwing ourselves in to the 'Lion's Den' so to speak. But, it is the other way around. To cling to limiting beliefs is detrimental to your well being and can cause your faculties (emotional & spiritual) to atrophy (a slow and gnawing pain). A refusal to grow and evolve your personal beliefs in-effect poisons your being. A toxicity of thought, a stagnant pool of beliefs will only warrant pain & discomfort.

"The doorstep to the temple of wisdom is a knowledge of our own ignorance." - Benjamin Franklin

"The word 'belief' is a difficult thing for me. I don't believe. I must have a reason for a certain hypothesis. Either I know a thing, and then I know it - I don't need to believe it." - Carl Jung

We have gotten attached to the idea of being ‘Right’. Our EGO makes us believe that we are so ‘Right‘, that we're willing to fight for our beliefs even when they are fundamentally flawed. We get so attached to the emotion of being 'Right'. EGO tells you that, to be wrong means to sacrifice a little part of who (you think) you are. We so powerfully believe that we are what we think, we are what we have, we are what other people think of us, that to compromise even the slightest bit is to betray our own self, to stab ourselves in the back.

"To enjoy good health, to bring true happiness to one's family, to bring peace to all, one must first discipline and control one's own mind. If a man can control his mind he can find the way to Enlightenment, and all wisdom and virtue will naturally come to him." - Buddha

The reality of the matter is… our subconscious need to unconditionally and irrationally hold to a belief is to betray your own true self, to betray our own infinite potential, to sacrifice our divine potential to become. You must explore all avenues of thought and belief. You can not relegate yourself to such a boxed-in reality. Because you believe in such limiting beliefs, you feel a pain that, in all rational reality, should never be experienced.

You feel pain every time you cross that imaginary boundary you‘ve created in your mind. You feel pain when you secretly stray from mind’s established (fictional) belief system. You feel pain when you ‘sin’ against established ways of being. You feel pain when you betray the egocentric system which you have been programmed to believe exists, deep within yourself. To stray from established beliefs which are not even your own, but have been subconsciously programmed in to your psyche. In your fictional story, to betray the long-held virtue of ‘FAITH’, long since dedicated to traditional established social beliefs… This, you feel, warrants pain - To go against the grain of predominant ideologies.

"He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice." - Albert Einstein

How often do you voluntarily strap yourself down on to the table and torture yourself over beliefs that you yourself have not claimed or personally sanctioned through intense personal scrutiny, but which have been inherently cast upon you by friends, family and authority figures?

"Learned helplessness is the giving-up reaction, the quitting response that follows from the belief that whatever you do doesn't matter."
- Arnold Schwarzenegger

The true nature of Faith is the belief that once you have done all you can do, you release it all to the Universe. Faith is not meant to be a blind, mindless method of conforming to established belief systems. This is indeed a perversion of such a divine, deeply personal & universal process. You must challenge your thoughts and your beliefs before handing over your life to the Divine power of Faith.

"Faith is the great cop-out, the great excuse to evade the need to think and evaluate evidence. Faith is belief in spite of, even perhaps because of, the lack of evidence." - Richard Dawkins

"Faith in something greater than ourselves. Enables us to do what we have said we'll do, to press forward when we are tired or hurt or afraid, to keep going when the challenge seems overwhelming and the course is entirely uncertain." - Gorden Haze

Simply put, we feel pain and discomfort when we naively believe that we are justified in our limiting beliefs and that for some unknown reason, they deserve your undying, unwavering service - That you must protect them, even to your own end.

"The secret of success is learning how to use pain and pleasure instead of having pain and pleasure use you. If you do that, you're in control of your life. If you don't, life controls you." - Tony Robbins

Know This -- You are not your thoughts, you are not your beliefs, you are not what others think of you. You are a divine creator, full of infinite potential. Do not be so willing to put yourself in such a small limiting box. Every limiting belief you hold robs you of your own divine power to create your reality.
