Purpose & Passion: The Theme of Your Life

What can I say about Purpose, other then... It has taken me quite some time to find mine. All I knew growing up was that I wanted to be a tool of positive energy and inspiration. I seem to have locked on to that one thing I find absolutely thrilling. My passion lies in the inspiring of others. That is truly a worthy ideal for me; That is my "Theme of Life".

Just today, I was talking with a friend about Purpose. What is your life purpose? What were you put here on this Earth to do? Most people struggle with this topic their whole lives and never really discover what it is that makes them tick. What if I told you, it's a whole lot simpler then we make it out to be?

"My passions were all gathered together like fingers that made a fist.
Drive is considered aggression today; I knew it then as purpose."

~ Bette Davis

What is your Passion? What is the one thing you absolutely love doing? It’s that one thing you could do all day, miss breakfast, lunch and maybe even dinner, and continue working on in to the long hours of the night. It’s the one thing you enjoy doing so much that you lose all sense of time; something you could do every day of your life and not lose interest.

It’s that simple! Ask yourself… “What is the Theme of my life!?!”

"Many persons have a wrong idea of what constitutes true happiness.
It is not attained through self-gratification but through fidelity to a worthy purpose."

~ Helen Keller

Make a list of all of the things you enjoy doing. Just start listing them and don’t stop until you feel content with your list. Now… look at all of the activities you love/like to do. Then… take those activities and categorize them in to groups.

For example… you love to learn about animals, watch movies on animals, play with animals, you take care of animals… There you go! You’ve got a group of things you love to do.

Once you’ve categorized all your activities, take the top three groups of activities.

Ok… lets continue with that example -- You love animals! You… love the outdoors… you love being active. Lets say those are your top three groups of activities. Now -- Try and think of all of the jobs, careers, opportunities that would fit in to those three categories.

Maybe you want to be a Zoologist, a Biologist, a Forest Ranger, etc.

There you go! You’ve taken the first step in identifying your passion. Now -- All you have to do is narrow it down, get excited, get passionate and believe that the one thing you’ve come down to is your singular purpose here on this Earth. And last but not least… go at it with a Passion; A tenacity of Purpose!

Become that Purpose and be that Passion. Follow it with an unwavering and super focused intent. Create your life around this singular purpose. Make every day/night about your Purpose. Do this… and you will not fail in achieving your Ideal life.

"Any ordinary favor we do for someone or any compassionate reaching out may seem to be going nowhere at first, but may be planting a seed we can't see right now. Sometimes we need to just do the best we can and then trust in an unfolding we can't design or ordain."

~ Sharon Salzberg
